Zoe has this amazing ability to squeeze herself into places. As I was unloading groceries I left the bags on the floor. When I finished I turned to pick up all the bags and found Zoe curled up in one of the tipped over bags. She looked so content I felt guilty moving her. I left the bag on the floor for a couple of days and it was “her” place. Dominic, my other cat, did not go near it and Bishop, my dog, would cautiously step over it. When I picked it up I was not concerned because I knew she would soon find a new niche; Empty shoe box? On top of my laptop? In the sink?
What is it about cats? Mine does the same exact thing and they always look so cozy where ever they end up. I have the most adorable picture of one of my cats lounging in a plant!
ReplyDelete@Colette I would love to see it! I stopped buying traditional "pet beds" years ago because they just collected dust.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of unusual 'cat beds', my cat Pearl decided she would sleep in a chip box on top of the refrigerator - with the individual chip bags still in it! Needless to say, the chips became crumbs and I always knew when she had gotten in there to nap and all was well in her world!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Sarah, there is certainly no need to have a traditional pet bed because cats seem to find their own place. Like my other cat, Sammy, sleeps in the box springs of my bed during the day!?
Cats are strange. Our weird cat will suffer the indignities that my 10 year old places on him (dressing him up and putting him in a baby stroller), and then will sleep in the stroller for hours. Maybe it's because he is 20 and doesn't have the strength to find a better place to sleep.
ReplyDelete@Amy and Charisse, I am glad to hear that it is not just my funny cat. My neighbors cat has taken to sleeping on top of my car in my garage. Maybe it is the soft top but he loves being in there.
